This collection consists of six series, namely IBM Codes and Inventories, Collection Records, Articles and Publications about the Nevada Test Site, Trapping Summaries, Photographs and Maps, and Other Items. IBM Codes and Inventories includes information about the codes for each type of life form in the Nevada Test Site and also an inventory of the life found therein. Series two, Collection Records, has all of the records of animal life that were noted throughout the study. These collection records include information about the area in which the life form was found; the day, month, and year it was found; the species, the sex, and the number of specimens that were collected; and lastly, the method in which the specimen was collected. Series three has reprints of articles and publications that discuss aspects of the Nevada Test Site. Most are written or co-written by Dorald M. Allred. Trapping Summaries is almost the same as Collection Records in that it has the same kind of information. Trapping summaries includes data about the specimens collected at each of the traps that were placed in the Nevada Site. The data consists of the species, the study site, the date, the location, the vegetation that was present, the trap plan, and how many specimens were found dead and alive. The Photographs and Maps Series includes aerial photos of the Nevada Test Site as well as photos of specimens and study sites. Other Items basically. Includes all other information that did not fit into one of the above series. This information includes layout plans of the Nevada Site, Vegetation information and analysis, and study area information.

Plans for the David O. McKay building began in 1952 after an evaluation by the Brigham Young University College of Education concluded that the existing building for the College of Education were no longer meeting the growing needs of the program. Dorald M. Allred was born July 11, 1923 in Lehi, Utah. He later married Berna Wilate Brown Allred in the Salt Lake Temple on March 14, 1952. They had five children, sixteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He graduated from Lehi High School, from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, then earned his Masters degree there in Entomology.
